Choose Gusto when
You want payroll taxes filed for you, integrated benefits, and a mature all-in-one small-business payroll package.
Choose Springroll when
You want a smaller HR/payroll stack that agents can operate through scoped MCP or REST tools, and you want to choose the tax and payment providers behind it.
How Springroll is different
Springroll keeps the workforce record, payroll runs, time, expenses, leave, documents and onboarding together. Stripe handles the Springroll subscription and Resend handles email. Tax calculation, tax filing and wage movement are provider integrations, so those services can be selected separately.
Springroll also exposes organization-scoped tools through REST and MCP. You can connect those tools to Codex, Claude Code or another MCP-compatible harness and decide what each agent may read or change.
If you want bundled benefits, a PEO, global employer-of-record services or a payroll provider that files taxes directly, one of the larger platforms may fit better. Springroll is for teams that want the core operating record and agent access without buying every adjacent service from the same vendor.
